The new terminal is located on the east side of Lisbon in front of Alfama, one of the most picturesque neighbors of the Portuguese capital, and was designed by Portuguese architect João Luís Carrilho da Graça. The key consideration of the terminal design was sustainability and ensuring the smooth onward flow of tourists, to avoid congestion elsewhere in the city. Public transportation is also available, since in front of the new terminal you will find Santa Apolónia metro station (blue line).

Covering 13,800 square meters over three floors, the new terminal will provide around 1,500 meters space of pier to cater for a wide variety and size of ships. It will feature two fully-automated gangway systems, on-site equipment including cranes and forklift trucks, and be able to supply vessels with check-in facilities, water supplies and other provisions while in dock.

National Geographic Exodus Aveiro Fest 2017: From the 1st to the 3rd of December 2017

Aveiro will be the main stage of the Exodus Aveiro Fest 2017

The National Geographic Exodus Aveiro Fest is an International Travel and Adventure Photography and Video Festival that gathers some of the best photographers and videographers in the world. It is the first event in Portugal of this genre, and it aims to become a recognizable brand both nationally and internationally, with yearly editions.

The Festival takes place on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of December at Centro de Congressos de Aveiro, with photographic exhibitions, speaking sessions, travel talks, masterclasses, activities of creative enrichment, brand stands, late night sessions and several networking moments.

There will be ten world renowned names under the spotlight, and they will be in Aveiro to present, teach and inspire other travellers and creatives to see the planet with enhanced wisdom. They come from various parts of the world and work regularly with companies and institutions like National Geographic, Discovery Channel, Time Magazine, Red Bull, among many others. They will bring to the audience images and videos of faraway expeditions, stories of ordeals and extreme misery, impossible challenges and breathtaking adventures. But they will also share the humanity and the umbilical cord that connects us to earth and the animals, breaking old prejudices and opening new horizons. They will teach us to see and observe, to assimilate and then to capture and make it eternal.

Names of the invited guests:

A Road Trip around Portugal will take place on the five days following the event (4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th of December), leading the invited guests on a tour through some of the most beautiful and characteristic places in the country. It’s a way of presenting Portugal to an elite group of ambassadors, creating a channel of understanding and promotion of its geographic and cultural richness. During the Road Trip, there will be a video and photographic record of the journey by a multimedia team, and many opportunities for the guests to make their own recordings, capturing Portugal through the lens of their extensive knowledge and creative experience. A collection of the captured images will be made available to the public.
