Come and appreciate the great skill and expertise of the world’s top bodyboarders, who, in September, will be taking part in the Sintra Portugal Pro at Praia Grande.

Organised under the auspices of the International Bodyboarding Association (IBA), the Sintra Portugal Pro tournament consists of both men’s and women’s events and is the only stage in the World Bodyboarding Championship to be held in Europe.

On 2-3 September the Red Bull Air Race is back to Porto

©Red Bull Air Race
Porto has hosted the Red Bull Air Race from 2007 through to 2009 and now is back again to the Red Bull Air Race World Championship calendar for 2017, taking place on the 2-3 September.

If you like competitions that test pilots' aeronautics skills don't miss the Red Bull Air Race world circuit over the River Douro. This competition consists of a slalom race - where the world's most skillful pilots manoeuvre around obstacles in flights that almost touch the ground and trace tight circles. In addition to great speed, this competition also requires minute precision and dexterity, since the smallest error can jeopardize the performance.

For those who want to follow the action closely, it's time to know the official weekend program - starting with an exciting autograph session with the pilots, late Friday afternoon (September 1st). After the doors of the airport of the Red Bull Air Race are open (situated in the Queimódromo of Porto) the fans will have the possibility to see very close the pilots, the airplanes and the teams.

On Saturday (September 2nd) the Qualifying takes place, and on Sunday, the various laps of the competition. In between, there will be many remarkable moments related to aviation and the art of flying, with the presence in the track of aerobatic squadrons, paragliding and skydiving athletes and a real parade of historical machines.

The public can follow all the action on the banks of Porto and Gaia, in vast areas of free access where giant screens will also be put up. There are also a limited number of hospitality tickets available, if you are interested please check here.

Those who do not have the opportunity to be there, can follow the event through the broadcast on the website www.redbullairrace.com and on the Portuguese TV channel SIC.

Medieval Days in Castro Marim

From the 23rd to the 27th  of August, Castro Marim, in the Algarve, returns to the Middle Ages, in a highly rigorous historical recreation.

During four days and nights, the castle of Castro Marim once again plays host to kings and queens, knights in shining armor, jesters, buffoons, noblemen and ladies, as the entire Court make a procession before the admiring gazes of many visitors that travel to the event every year.

Jousting tournaments, on foot and on horseback, street theater performances, banquets accompanied by medieval music and a handicrafts and merchandise fair, complement the entertainment activities of these Medieval Days, enabling us to relive the magic and mystery of times gone by.
