Don´t miss Rock' n' Roll Lisbon - Marathon in the next October 15, 2017

The Lisbon Marathon will take place in the 15th of October which is always competed for against a backdrop of panoramic views by the river or seaside.

The 42 kms distance Marathon sets off from Cascais and follows the Coastal Road (Estrada Marginal), firstly by the sea and then along the river until the finish line at Lisbon's Parque das Nações.

The event also includes two shorter distance races which are within the reach of all those taking part. The Half Marathon sets off from the Vasco da Gama Bridge and charts a 21kms course that also finishes up at the Parque das Nações. It provides the opportunity to cross one of the longest bridges in Europe on foot on the one day when cars have to give precedence to people.

At the same time there is the Mini Marathon which is about 8 kms and corresponds to the last stretch of the two races. Very popular with the locals in general, the Mini Marathon is taken by each one in their own stride, whether running or walking, since the main objective is taking part and meeting people.

Portugal won the award for Europe’s Leading Tourism Destination at the World Travel Awards

Portugal won the award for Europe’s Leading Tourism Destination at the World Travel Awards, the most prestigious tourism awards.
This prize was awarded on last Saturday, September 30
th, during a ceremony held in St. Petersburg, Russia, in the presence of the Secretary of State for Tourism in Portugal, Ana Mendes Godinho.
The fact that Portugal won this award for the first time is evidence of the progress Portugal has made in terms of visibility and prestige as a quality destination (only during 2017 Portugal received more than 2,300 prizes and distinctions).
The diversity of landscapes, the strengthening of air accessibility, the ease of travelling within the country and the friendliness and welcoming spirit of the Portuguese people towards the ones who visit Portugal were definitely excellent arguments that motivated this important distinction.
This award is also the recognition of the commitment of all in making Portugal a tourism destination of excellence, with unique offer that extends throughout the territory, from north to south, from the coast to the interior.
Portugal was also the country that received the most awards in this gala, held in St. Petersburg, with 37 distinctions ranging from Europe’s Leading Cruise Port: Lisbon, Europe’s Leading Island Destination: Madeira Islands, Europe’s Leading Beach Destination: Algarve or Europe’s Leading Tourist Board: Turismo de Portugal.
Portugal won 37 of the Oscars of Tourism, 13 more than last year, which reinforces not only the image of the 3rd most peaceful country in the world but also the 14th most competitive country in the world in Tourism that every year receives over 21 million visitors.

New video "From Farm to Table" with Food and Wine Itineraries in the Alentejo and Ribatejo regions

For travelers who enjoy organizing their own holidays, the Alentejo and Ribatejo Tourism Board have developed a series of food and wine itineraries in the region, where local producers have decided to open their doors to visitors.

“From Farm to Table” is organised into six major itineraries, divided into 17 routes in the Alentejo and three in the Ribatejo, that showcase regional products and identify and locate the producers and companies that can be visited.

For each route, there is a map and a series of suggestions for visits and activities, such as taking part in the olive harvest, learning to make wine, discovering the growing cycle of rice, or even becoming a home producer of mushrooms. Using this information, tours can be worked out geographically, or in relation to visitors’ interests, the time available, the time of the year and the availability of the producers.

The guide is useful both for people visiting the region and for professionals who would like to enrich their programmes with the flavors of the land and with direct contact with producers.
